Free Leonard Peltier After
Leonard's appeals were exhausted in 1993, former Attorney General Ramsey
Clark filed a petition for Executive Clemency with President Clinton.
Normally
a clemency petition is reviewed by the Justice Department before it reaches
the president's desk (beginning at the Pardon Attorney's Office and finishing
with the Attorney General). Although the president is not bound to the
Justice Department's recommendation,
As
President Clinton's last days in office rapidly approach, it is urgent
that we focus all energies on urging him to do the right thing by setting
Leonard Peltier free.
Get involved in the Peltier freedom campaign. Continue to write Clinton and the Pardon Attorney, as well as your congressional reps and senators. Inform them about Leonard's case and urge them to write to Clinton in support of Executive Clemency for Peltier. Organize
telephone banks and call the White House Comments line on your region's
designated day. Time is running out! The northeast people call on Mondays.
The southeast calls on Tuesdays, the mid-west and International calls on
Wednesday, the northwest calls on Thursday and the southwest calls on Friday.
