"Angel"
Angel
was my first horse, a birthday gift from Sylvia.
She is
a five year old mustang mare from the Pryor Mountain wild mustang herd.
She is the queen of the ranch in the respect that she wants all of the
attention, and is not afraid to run the others off if she feels they are
going to get more attention than she does.
"Dallas"
Dallas
is a 24 year old Tobiano Paint mare.
Despite
her age, Dallas is still one of our best trail horses
and can
keep up with the best of them.
In her
younger days she was quite the cow pony and was
also
used to pony thoroughbred race horses.
I lovingly
refer to her as the "Old War Horse".
"Cochise"
Cochise
is a six year old Tennessee Walking Horse gelding.
His color
is known as a red or strawberry roan,
and at
just under 16 hands high, is our tallest horse.
Cochise
is also the lead horse, meaning that he is the top
horse
and keeps all of the others in line... except Angel!
"Midnight"
Midnight
is also a six year old Tennessee Walking Horse gelding, and is the brother
of Cochise. He is not as tall as Cochise but he is definitely our largest
horse as far as weight is concerned. Midnight is also an experienced pack
horse, but loves to be ridden as well.
"Feeding
time"
As soon
as we walk out towards the hay stacks they will line up
in their
pecking order and wait for their portions to be delivered.
Unfortunately,
Angel has to have her pile first or she will
run everybody
else off and take theirs.
